So much has happened since my last post! I began volunteering at one local nonprofit and working at another! Our boy made it off to college, and we are adjusting to the empty nest life. In my last post, I mentioned a nonprofit I learned about on Volunteer Match. Since the “top three contenders” for my encore career came down to wellness coach, career coach, and mentor, that’s the kind of opportunity I was looking for.
I came across an organization called Work & Learn, Inc. There are currently opportunities to volunteer with them as an Encourager. I ended up going through their 12-week program to check it out. It reinforces Biblical values, helps you to upgrade your career skills, and encourages you to take steps to find a job or ministry. It was a good time for personal reflection, and I really benefited from the mock interview and resume review. It is a free program and could be a ministry churches offer to empower members and neighbors. You can find details on the Work & Learn website.
