The Lord gave me the words unveiled valor more than four years ago. He has been unveiling more over time and I am still working on that valor part. I guess it is high time that I stopped working on it and started trusting Him!

With this being my last year of homeschooling, I know things will change a lot next fall when, Lord willing, Marshall heads off to college. I have been pondering what my encore career might look like. While I assume I could step back into the financial services world, I believe that God has a different calling for me. I know I am supposed to come along side others and help empower them to be all God has called them to be. I am drawn to the nonprofit industry.

This book, The Encore Career Handbook by Marci Alboher was a great place for me to begin brainstorming. It is not just about leaving a legacy, but living one! This part, from page 11, is so me! “If you’re a planner, you do your homework and come with an idea, then research options about how to make it happen. You may be waiting to hit a milestone – last child off to college…” Any other planners out there? Anyone else waiting to reach a milestone? The exercises in the “What Do You Want?” chapter were extremely helpful and for me, my “top three contenders” came down to wellness coach, career coach, and mentor.

The chapter called “Go Do Things!” lead me to VolunteerMatch.org which lead me to an organization I will share with you in a future post. The chapter titled “Back to School” gave me the motivation I needed to re-examine various places to persue some formalized training. What does your encore look like?
